Nigerian Army Renovates and Commissions Government College Kagoro

It was a moment of joy and celebration as people from all walks of life gathered at the prestigious Government College, Kagoro, to witness the commissioning of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Project on Thursday, 6 November 2025.

In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, noted that the Nigerian Army remains committed to contributing positively to society while strengthening civil-military relations. Represented by the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1, Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Wase, the COAS emphasized that tackling the challenges confronting the nation requires sustained collaboration between the military and civilians. He also charged the students to remain focused and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.

In his welcome address, the project facilitator, Major General Henry Yannet, explained that his decision to embark on the project was inspired by his experience as an alumnus of the school. He handed over the renovated classroom blocks and solar inverters to the principal, teachers and members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), urging them to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities for the benefit of future generations.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Principal of Government College, Kagoro, Master Danladi Musa, expressed profound appreciation to the Nigerian Army for its contributions to national security and educational development through the CIMIC project. He encouraged other alumni to emulate the gesture by giving back to the institution, noting that such efforts significantly enhance the learning environment. He also pledged to ensure the proper upkeep of the newly renovated facilities.

Highlights of the event included the commissioning and inspection of the renovated structures, cultural performances by students and dance groups, presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
