Nigerian Army Rescue 5, Arrest Suspect and Recover Arms

In a series of daring operations on 30 August 2025, gallant troops of the Nigerian Army recorded major breakthroughs in Katsina, Edo, and Niger States. At Malumfashi LGA in Katsina, a Strike Team from 8 Division laid a successful ambush at a suspected terrorist crossing point in Yarkasuwa, forcing the criminals to flee after intense firepower. Troops rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered an AK-47 magazine with 27 rounds of ammunition. In a related operation the same day, troops of 17 Brigade swiftly responded to a distress call at Malumfashi–Kafur Road, engaging terrorists who had blocked the route. The criminals were forced into the bush, abandoning two kidnapped victims and a motorcycle, which were recovered.

Meanwhile, in Edo State, troops of 4 Brigade on Operation WABAIZIGAN foiled a robbery attempt at Uhie Community along Ologbo–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA. The criminals, who had earlier robbed a civilian and stolen his vehicle, were pursued until they abandoned it and fled. Upon inspection, troops discovered three locally fabricated guns and two live cartridges hidden inside the recovered vehicle. The weapons were secured, while the vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.

In another success, troops of 22 Brigade at FOB Babanna in Borgu LGA, Niger State, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted and arrested a suspected violent extremist linked to insurgent activities while he was in transit. The suspect is currently in custody for further investigation. These operational gains highlights the Nigerian Army’s renewed resolve to deny terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminals freedom of action while restoring peace and safety across the nation.
