Nigerian Army Resource Centre Holds Lecture Series On Fiscal Reforms and National Security

The Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) on Thursday, 29 January 2026, hosted its Seventy-Second Monthly Lecture Series at Hall C, TY Buratai Block, NARC, Asokoro, Abuja.

The lecture, titled “Reforming Nigeria’s Fiscal Regime as an Element in National Economic Rebirth: Implications for National Security,” was delivered by Professor Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman, Presidential Committee on Fiscal and Tax Reforms.

In his welcome address, the Director General, Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Major General JGK Myam (Rtd) OFR, formally received the Special Guest of Honour, the Guest Lecturer, and other distinguished guests. He encouraged participants to pay close attention to the presentation and to take advantage of the interactive session to seek clarifications on recently implemented tax policies.

The event was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu (NAM), who was ably represented by the Deputy Chief of Training (Army), Major General SD Makolo. Other senior officers present included the Chief of Operations (Army), Major General MLD Saraso, and the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, alongside representatives of the Service Chiefs, heads of ministries, departments and security agencies, non-governmental organisations, as well as senior military officers, both serving and retired.

Speaking during the interactive session, the representative of the Chief of Army Staff, Major General SD Makolo, made insightful contributions and raised pertinent observations to the Guest Lecturer on issues discussed. He thereafter expressed appreciation to the Director General of NARC and Professor Oyedele for the enlightening engagement, adding that he hoped the Guest Lecturer would, when next called upon, extend similar engagements in the same regard, particularly for Nigerian Army personnel and soldiers.

Highlights of the lecture series included a robust interactive session, the presentation of a souvenir to the Guest Lecturer, and a group photograph to mark the occasion.
