
Nigerian Army School Of Finance and Administration Host Leadership Development Seminar 2025
The Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration (NASFA) hosted the 23rd Nigerian Army Leadership Development Seminar (NALDS) on the 18 March 2025, at the School Auditorium in Lagos, with the theme “Critical Thinking: An Effective Tool for Military Operational Commanders.” The seminar, held in conjunction with the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), is aimed at enhancing the capacity development of Nigerian Army officers of the ranks of Lieutenant Colonel and Colonels.
The Special Guest of Honour, Commander Corps of Signals Major General Nosakare Ugbo in his keynote address stated that the seminar is designed to enhance the optimization of the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff which anchored on four pillars namely; Leadership, Sound Administration, Professionalism and Combat-Readiness. The first pillar of leadership as espoused by the Nigerian Army Doctrine is the first duty of a military officer. Hence, it is incumbent on every officer to provide exemplary leadership to his men. Exemplary leadership entails leadership by example, which inspires others to follow suit through action rather than mere words.
The Special Guest of Honour further charged all participants to take this seminar seriously and give it all the attention it deserves in order to enhance their proficiency in the discharge of their duties. He enjoin them to maintain a high level of discipline, listen attentively and contribute meaningfully during the interactive sessions.
Earlier in the welcome address of the host, the Commandant NASFA, Major General Julius Osifo, thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede for the approval given to conduct the seminar. He warmly and respectfully welcomed the Special Guest of Honour. He stated that the seminar is inspired by the COAS Command Philosophy which is “To Consolidate the Transformation of the Nigerian Army Towards Bequeathing a Well-Motivated and Combat-Ready Force that can Effectively Discharge its Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment”. Finally, he gave a brief highlight of the selected topics of the seminar.
The first lecture at the Seminar was delivered by the Brigadier General Al Adedigba (rtd) on the topic Critical Thinking Skills and Abilities – Why is it Important in the Military while the second lecture was delivered by Mrs Hilda Nkor on the topic: Intelligent and Strategic Decision Making Using Critical Thinking Tools.
Other highlights of the events were brief about NIM by the Institute Representative, presentation of souvenirs and a historic group photographs.
Present at the Seminar was Director Directorate of Non Public Funds Brig Gen I Sule, Director Directorate of Finance and Information Management Brig Gen IA Basharu among other senior officers, both serving and retired
