
Nigerian Army Schools and Units In Basawa Hosts West African School Activities 2025
The Nigerian Army Schools and Units in Basawa, comprising the Nigerian Army School of Military Police (NASMP), Nigerian Army School of Legal Services (NASLS) and the 11 Field Engineer Regiment hosted the West African Social Activities (WASA) on Saturday 24 January 2026 at the Basawa Barracks, Zaria, Kaduna State.
The annual event brought together officers, soldiers, students, staff, families and invited guests, with the aim of fostering unity, comradeship and esprit de corps among personnel of the Nigerian Army.
In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour, the Deputy Director, Department of Civil-Military Cooperation (Army), Major General Aminu Mohammad Umar, charged officers and soldiers to remain focused and highly resilient to all forms of distraction. He noted that the Nigerian Army is consolidating on the achievements recorded in its ongoing efforts to ensure peace and stability across the country. The senior officer further urged personnel to be proactive in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities and to redouble their efforts towards attaining greater heights in the year 2026.
Earlier, the Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Military Police, Brigadier General Onalo Yakubu, described WASA as a celebration of the Nigerian Army’s shared history and rich cultural diversity. According to him, the event is designed to strengthen trust, promote understanding and build lasting relationships that enhance collective capacity to address common security challenges.
