Nigerian Army Signals Celebrates WASA In Grand Style

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, emphasized the critical roles played by the Nigerian Army Signals (NAS), which has upheld its sterling professionalism and proficiency in providing reliable and efficient communications support to all Nigerian Army operations and exercises. This was highlighted during the Nigerian Army Signals West African Social Activities (WASA) 2023 at Signals Operation Command (SOC) Parade ground, NAS Barracks, Mile 2, Lagos.

The Special Guest of Honor (SGOH), COAS Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General MT Usman, expressed profound appreciation to the Commander Corps of Signals (CCS) for the invitation. He commended their strive to achieve the Corps of Signals’ mission statement, ensuring efficient support for Nigerian Army Operations and exercises.

In the opening address, Major General Gbemiga Adesina, the Commander Corps of Signals (CCS), welcomed the Special Guest of Honor and esteemed guests to NAS WASA 2023. He stated that the WASA celebrates the successful completion of the Corps of Signals’ training and operational activities for 2023, providing Signals families a unique opportunity to showcase unity and comradeship while felicitating with families and friends in an atmosphere devoid of the usual regimented life.

Major General Olusegun Adesina urged everyone to unwind and relax after an eventful year, noting the successes achieved in training reflected in the sterling conduct of troops in various theatres of operations. He acknowledged the sacrifices of colleagues who paid the supreme price, ensuring their families would never be forgotten.

Dignitaries at the occasion include the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, the Air Officer Commanding Air Logistics Command, Commanders of various Nigerian Army Corps, Commandants of various Armed Forces Schools, Retired Corps Commanders of Signals, very senior officers serving and retired, Formation commanders and Directors, Local Government Council Chairmen, Managing Directors of various invited companies, PRONTO Veteran Association, Members of Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association Apapa Zone, and officers’ and soldiers’ families, among others.

Highlights of the memorable WASA includes traditional dance from different cultural troupes, March Pass by Signals Magajiyas, Tug of War contest, presentation of awards to deserving soldiers, gift items to widows of fallen heroes in the Corps and group photographs.
