Nigerian Army Signals, CPN Forge Stronger Professional Collaboration

The Nigerian Army Signals (NAS) and the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) have forged a stronger professional collaboration aimed at enhancing capacity-building, training, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development within the Nigerian Army (NA). This was disclosed during a courtesy visit by members of the CPN to the Commander Corps of Signals (CCS), Major General Tanimu Abdullahi, at the Headquarters NAS, Arakan Cantonment, Lagos, on 29 January 2026.

While appreciating the council members for the visit, the CCS noted that the engagement provided an opportunity to further understand the capabilities of the Council and identify areas of mutual collaboration. Major General Abdullahi stated that both institutions have enjoyed a long-standing relationship, adding that the increasing number of NAS personnel seeking membership with the CPN underscores the need to deepen collaboration. He stressed that partnership in the areas of enhanced training capacity at the Nigerian Army School of Signals, electronic warfare, and ICT, among others, remains paramount. The CCS described the collaboration as a win-win initiative that would strengthen professionalism, improve operational efficiency, and promote global best practices within the Corps of Signals.

Earlier in his remarks, the immediate past President and Chairman of CPN, Mr Kole Jagun, appreciated the NA for consistently discharging its constitutional responsibilities. He also thanked the NAS for the existing partnership with the Council, noting that, in the spirit of Oliver Twist, the CPN seeks further collaboration to deepen professional engagement and capacity development. Mr Jagun further stated that the Council has continued to partner with relevant organisations while remaining guided by professional ethics and standards. He noted that CPN possesses a pool of seasoned professionals and experts in ICT, cyber security, and related fields, who are well positioned to support the NAS in achieving its ICT and digital transformation objectives.

Also speaking, the Registrar of CPN, Mr Adebayo Adegbiji, said that the Council is a Federal Government agency saddled with the responsibility of licensing, accrediting, and regulating computer professionals in Nigeria. He added that the Council also regulates Information Technology practice in the country, including setting and enforcing professional discipline and operational standards among its members.

The Registrar reiterated that the Council, through its think tank and professional network, remains open and fully committed to enhance collaboration with the NAS, while upholding professionalism and global best practices.
