Nigerian Army Strikes Hard: 15 Terrorists Down, 42 Criminals Nabbed, 30 Victims Rescued In Major Operations

In a decisive show of strength, the Nigerian Army has recorded remarkable operational successes across multiple theatres of operations nationwide, neutralizing 15 terrorists, arresting 42 criminal suspects, rescued 30 kidnapped victims and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.

In the wake of renewed vigor against the criminal elements, troops sustained aggressive counter-terrorism and anti-criminality operations in the North East, North West, North Central, South West and South South, yielding significant results. In Borno and Yobe States, troops dealt hard on several ISWAP/JAS terrorist on mission to attack communities and neutralized 15 in a ferocious encounter. The troops also recovered rifles, magazines, ammunition, grenades, explosives, motorcycles and communication gadgets during the operations. The successes were recorded in during a successful operation in Dikwa, Gwoza, Bama, Banki and Gujba general areas, forcing several terrorists to flee in disarray, leaving behind critical weapons and logistics.

In Kaduna State, troops in a joint operations with the Police and other security agencies raided identified black spots, arresting 15 suspects with illicit drugs. Similarly, in Bayelsa, troops of Operation Delta Safe in collaboration with NDLEA arrested 25 suspects, while 2 others were apprehended in Delta State for oil theft. In total, 42 suspects were arrested nationwide within the period.

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE also achieved major breakthroughs in rescue operations in Benue State, where 27 kidnapped passengers were rescued at Amoda in Ohimini LGA, while in Borno and Sokoto, three locals and three other kidnapped victims were freed from terrorist captivity following a heavy fire fight with troops.

In the South South, troops have discovered and destroyed illegal crude oil bunkering sites in Imo, Rivers and Delta States, recovering thousands of litres of stolen petroleum products, while drug syndicates were intercepted in Ogun State with large quantities of cannabis.

The Nigerian Army reassures Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to ensuring peace, security and stability across the country. The successes recorded highlights the determination of troops, working in synergy with sister services and security agencies, to rid the nation of terrorism, criminality and other threats to national security. It also underscores the commitment of troops to safer society to boost agricultural activities in line with the Federal Government commitment to food security.
