Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command Assessment Team Visits AWCN, Evaluates Doctrinal Compliance, Highlights Future Developments
A team from the Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Minna, led by Major General JAL Jimoh, paid a visit to the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) on June 24, 2024. The visit aimed to evaluate and assess the College’s adherence to the Nigerian Army Doctrine.
In his remarks, Major General JAL Jimoh, the Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development TRADOC NA, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception extended by the College. He then commended the College for its high level of compliance with the Nigerian Army Doctrine. General Jimoh highlighted the importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in enhancing learning, noting that it will be fully adopted in Nigerian Army institutions.
General Jimoh also announced the forthcoming establishment of the Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre (JDWC), urging the College to take a keen interest in this development. He emphasized that the harmonization of doctrines through this centre would significantly enhance the effectiveness of military operations. The contributions of AWCN to this initiative were acknowledged as invaluable.
In his response, Major General Ishaya Maina, the Commandant AWCN, expressed gratitude to the team for their visit. He welcomed the establishment of the Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre, expressing optimism about the potential benefits of harmonized doctrines for the Nigerian Army’s operational effectiveness.
General Maina reaffirmed AWCN’s dedication to contributing valuable insights and expertise to the development of the Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre. He emphasized the College’s readiness to collaborate closely with TRADOC and other military institutions to enhance the overall performance and capabilities of the Nigerian Army.
Earlier during the visit, Colonel SA Mohammed delivered a comprehensive briefing on the AWCN. The briefing covered various aspects of the College’s curriculum, training methodologies, and institutional framework. Highlights of the visit were presentation of souvenirs, a tour of the AWCN facilities, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
