Nigerian Army Women Command Takes Workshop On Building A Happy and Peaceful Family For Nigerian Army Personnel To Abakaliki

Headquarters Nigerian Army Women Command takes her Workshop on Building a Happy and Peaceful Family for Nigerian Army Personnel to Abakaliki Ebonyi State.

The Workshop hosted by 2 Women Battalion with the Theme: Securing the Home Front to Strengthen the Frontline, underscores the vital role which a peaceful home plays in enabling officers and men of the Nigerian Army to focus on the demands of their job.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen OO Oluyede who was ably represented by the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen OT Olatoye stated that the workshop underscores the significance of its personnel and their families to the Nigerian Army while noting its crucial role in enhancing the Army’s capacity to fulfill its constitutional mandate. He further expressed how, under the COAS leadership, the Nigerian Army aims to strengthen the support systems, especially, the home front to enhance professionalism and operational efficiency among soldiers while promoting stability and fulfilment in their respective family lives.

The COAS also pointed out that a harmonious and supportive family environment boosts morale, enhances focus and ultimately contributes to achieving the Army’s operational objectives. He noted that indeed addressing personnel welfare issues aligns with his Command Philosophy under the element of “Sound Administration”. Further more he highlighted other support systems provided by the Nigerian Army to enhance the wellbeing of personnel and their families to include the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOAS), provision of accessible education for children of army personnel through command children and secondary schools, building of worship centres, establishment of skills acquisition centres for family members and many more.

The Commander Nigerian Army Women Command, Brig Gen MI Amatso in his welcome remarks expressed that the workshop was inspired by the COAS focus on Sound Administration as a pillar in his Command Philosophy. He further stated that it is specifically hinged on the tenet of Support for the Homefront under sound administration. He also remarked that Nigerian Army personnel should count themselves fortunate to have a Chief of Army Staff who do not only think about how many battles the soldiers win, but is also deeply concerned about how to support the soldiers Homefront (that is their family). He highlighted that the workshop was a step by the Nigerian Army Women Command to actualize the tenet of Support for the Homefront in the COAS Command Philosophy, for the benefit of Nigerian Army Women Command troops, all participants of the workshop and Nigerian Army at large.

Lectures delivered at the workshop dwelt on

preventing and resolving marital crisis, mental health and domestic violence as well as Notable Policies and Structures put in place by the Army to support the well being of personnel home front.

High points of the event were, interactive session, presentation of souvenirs and a group photographs.
