
Nigerian Army Women Command Wraps Up First Quarter 2026 Workshop, Boosts Female Operational Capacity
The Nigerian Army Women Command (NAWC) has successfully concluded its First Quarter 2026 Workshop, with a renewed commitment to professionalism, ethical conduct and enhanced operational effectiveness among female personnel.
The final day of the workshop witnessed series of impactful lectures delivered by seasoned military leaders and subject-matter experts, focusing on operational ethics, human rights, leadership development and gender mainstreaming in military operations.
Retired Major General MJ Wambai delivered a lecture titled “Operational Ethics, Human Rights, and Professional Conduct.” In his presentation, he underscored the critical importance of discipline, adherence to established rules of engagement and the protection of human rights in the conduct of military operations. He emphasized that ethical leadership and professional behaviour are indispensable to maintaining public trust and achieving sustainable operational success.
In another session, retired Brigadier General BET Bello presented a lecture titled “Leadership, Career Pathways, and Command Opportunities for Female Personnel.” He encouraged participants to pursue excellence, remain steadfast in their professional development and prepare themselves for higher responsibilities within the Nigerian Army structure. He stressed that competence, integrity and resilience are key attributes required for leadership and command roles.
Also delivering a thought-provoking presentation was Dr. Temilola George, whose lecture titled “From Policy to Practice: Applying Gender Mainstreaming Tools in Military Operations” underscored the practical application of gender-sensitive strategies in planning and executing military operations. She highlighted the importance of integrating gender perspectives to enhance operational effectiveness, community engagement and protection of vulnerable populations.
In his closing remarks, the Commander, Nigerian Army Women Command, Brigadier General MS Adamu, expressed profound appreciation to all participants for their commitment and active engagement throughout the workshop. He described the event as a remarkable convergence of distinguished military and paramilitary personnel whose professionalism and discipline contributed immensely to its success.
Brigadier General Adamu commended participants for their cooperation and invaluable contributions, noting that the quality of discussions and collective resolve demonstrated during the sessions reflect NAWC’s shared dedication to strengthening collaboration, capacity building and operational readiness.
He also extended special appreciation to the organizing committee and facilitators for their tireless efforts in ensuring a seamless and impactful workshop.
The Commander expressed confidence that the knowledge gained and partnerships strengthened during the workshop would translate into improved service delivery and enhanced performance across formations and collaborating agencies.
