Nigerian Crude Oil Output Rises To 1.6 million Barrels Per Day

The Group Managing Director (GMD), Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Mr Mele Kyari stated that Nigeria’s crude oil production output had risen to 1.6mbd in July 2024.

The GMD who was represented by the Managing Director Pipelines, Mr Folorunsho Karim made the assertion during a Maritime Stakeholders Meeting convened by the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, on Tuesday 30 July 2024, at Naval Headquarters Abuja.

The Stakeholders’ meeting initiated by the CNS brought together over a hundred players in Nigeria’s Maritime Sector, comprising investors, business owners, operators of Private Maritime Security & Logistics Companies, and regulators including the NNPCL, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) & Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

Speaking further, the representative of NNPCL GMD commended the efforts of the Nigerian Navy (NN) under the auspices of OPERATION DELTA SANITY stating that “…they have been giving us a lot of support and we are having a reduction in oil theft and pipeline vandalism..”

In his remarks, the CNS said the meeting was convened to bring industry players together to discuss critical issues related to Maritime and energy security. He also stated that the NN had arrested over 35 vessels involved in oil theft in the past one year.

Finally, the CNS assured that in accordance with the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the NN will continue to fight oil theft and improve maritime security to enhance the ease of doing business in Nigeria’s maritime environment.
