Nigerian Navy Apprehends 4 Stowaways, Hands Them Over To Nigerian Immigration Service
Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT apprehended 4 stowaways onboard MT HIGH SEAS. These stowaways were handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service, Port/Marine Command Apapa, Lagos State on Friday 3 May 2024.
Recall that on 17 April 2024, the NN released a press statement on the growing menace of stowaways in Lagos waters.
Migration as a stowaway still remains illegal, and dangerous and is considered a security threat to national prosperity.
Once again the NN wishes to enlighten the general public on the dangers of attempting to travel as a stowaway which include severe legal consequences, significant health risks such as negative effects of harsh weather conditions, lack of food and water, injuries and even death.
Consequently, it is advised that Nigerian youths refrain from embarking on such misadventures.
