
Nigerian Navy College Hosts Beating Of The Retreat and Ceremonial Sunset For DSSC 29 and SDPCT 24 Cadets
On Saturday 17 May 2025, the Nigerian Naval College (NNC) in Ebubu-Eleme hosted Beating of Retreat and Ceremonial Sunset ceremony to mark the culmination of the Direct Short Service Commission 29 (DSSC 29) and Special Duty Pre-Commissioning Training 2024 (SDPCT 24). The ceremony, showcased the cadets’ military skills and cultural diversity.
In his opening remarks, the Commandant of NNC, Rear Admiral HS Zego highlighted the significance of the event, emphasizing that it represented more than just the end of military training but also a transition into service. He expressed gratitude to the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral IM Albara for his oversight and guidance, and to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla for providing the necessary resources to train the cadets.

The Special Guest of Honor, Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral AA Gaya charged the cadets to uphold the core values of the Nigerian Armed Forces, including loyalty, courage, integrity and selfless service. The highlights of the event were the Ceremonial Sunset and Bonfire, symbolizing the end of a cycle and the hope of new beginnings.
