On Tuesday, 30 September 2025, the Nigerian Navy College of Accounts and Finance (NNCAF) organised a free medical outreach for residents of Umuikaa Community in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State. The exercise featured free medical consultations, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, malaria and typhoid tests, health education, as well as distribution of medicines and insecticide-treated mosquito nets, with over 250 community members benefitting.

The outreach, approved by the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral RO Obeya, was in line with the strategic directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, to promote civil-military cooperation through non-kinetic engagements. Speaking at the event, the Commandant NNCAF, Commodore BU Quadri, reaffirmed the College’s commitment to improving the well-being of its host communities and stressed that the programme would help alleviate health challenges while strengthening bonds of trust and cooperation.

In appreciation, community leaders and residents lauded the initiative, describing it as impactful and timely. The Palace Chairman of Umuikaa Community, Mr Boniface Onwaogu, who spoke on behalf of the people, pledged continued support for the Nigerian Navy and called for the sustenance of such humanitarian gestures.
