
Nigerian Navy Commences Western Naval Command Small Arms Firing Exercise
The opening ceremony for the 2025 Western Naval Command Small Arms Firing Exercise/Range Classification (SAFEX) took place at the 192 Battalion Shooting Range in Owode, Ogun State. The ceremony was conducted by the Flag Officer Commanding the Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral MG Oamen who was represented by the Command Operations Officer, Commodore A Mohammed.
The 2025 WNC SAFEX was organised in compliance with the Nigerian Navy’s Schedule of Events. The exercise is being conducted simultaneously across the Command’s Area of Responsibility (AOR) at three locations including the 192 Battalion Shooting Range in Owode, the 35 Artillery Brigade at Amalama Barracks in Abeokuta and the 323 Artillery Regiment at the Military Range in Ita-Ogbolu, Akure. A total of 350 officers and ratings from ships, units, and establishments in the Lagos area will participate in ten firing events.
