Nigerian Navy FOB Bonny Intercepts Boat Laden With Suspected Stolen Crude Oil

As part of sustained efforts under Operation DELTA SENTINEL to combat crude oil theft and illegal bunkering within its Area of Operations, Forward Operating Base (FOB) BONNY, in collaboration with personnel of 146 Battalion, deployed an Anti-Crude Oil Theft Team to the Coal Beach general area on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

During the operation, the patrol team successfully intercepted a large wooden boat laden with a significant quantity of product suspected to be stolen crude oil. On sighting the advancing security presence, occupants of an accompanying fibre boat abandoned the scene and fled, evading arrest.
This successful interception underscores the Nigerian Navy’s unwavering commitment, in synergy with sister services, to dismantle crude oil theft networks and safeguard the nation’s critical economic assets.
