Nigerian Navy: Graduation Ceremony Of Naval Warfare Course 8 Of The Naval War College Nigeria

The Naval War College Nigeria (NWCN) graduated 24 participants of Naval Warfare Course 8. The grand graduation ceremony was held at the Central Lecture Hall of the NWCN and the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, was the Special Guest of Honor (SGOH). In attendance were, Principal Staff Officers from Naval Headquarters, members of the diplomatic corps, senior military & paramilitary officials and families of the graduating participants.

Rear Admiral A Ahmed, the Commandant of the Naval War College Nigeria, oversaw the passing-out of 24 participants of NWC 8 comprising 16 Commanders from the Nigerian Navy, 2 Lieutenant Colonels from the Nigerian Army, and 2 Wing Commanders from the Nigerian Air Force. The course also had international participants, with one officer each from the Ghana Navy, Cameroon Navy, and Guinea Bissau Navy, exemplifying the College’s international outlook.

During the graduation ceremony, awards were presented in recognition of excellence. The award winners are as follows:
Best Sister Service Participant – Wing Commander OO Oshinowo,
Best Foreign Participant – Commander SK Boateng-Asiedu of the Ghana Navy.

Third position in order of merit – Commander AS Nura, Second position in order of merit – Commander AOC Ehanmo and
First position in order of merit – Commander BM Braimah, who also received the award for the Best Research Paper, showcasing his exceptional analytical and academic skills.

In his remarks, the CNS noted that the NWCN had come of age and was fulfilling the role for which it was established. Thereafter, he congratulated the participants, commended their hard work, and wished them fair winds as they embarked on the next phase of their careers.

In a gesture of appreciation, a souvenir was presented to the SGOH by the NWCN Commandant. The graduation ceremony was concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Commodore SM Tasiu, the Doyen of the College.

The graduation of the Naval Warfare Course 8 marks another milestone in the development of operational level leaders, poised to contribute to the security and defence of Nigeria and their respective nations.
