Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft Hands Over 500kg Cannabis To NDLEA
On 20 February 2026, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT handed over five bags of Cannabis Sativa weighing approximately 500kg to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos, following their interception on 18 February by the ship’s Quick Response Team in the Abule Osun area of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Apapa, the Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, said the seizure underscores the Navy’s intensified efforts to curb illicit activities within the maritime domain, stressing that criminal networks exploiting Nigeria’s waterways will not be tolerated.
The narcotics were received by Deputy Commander of Narcotics Adejumo Gbenga Ayo for further investigation, highlighting sustained inter-agency collaboration to combat drug trafficking and enhance coastal security.
