Nigerian Navy Ship Wey Launches Maiden Edition Of Sailors Homefront Magazine
The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) WEY launched the maiden edition of its magazine titled Sailors’ Home Front at the Vice Admiral EI Ogalla Multipurpose Hall on Thursday 31 October 2024.
The Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral MG Oamen graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour. In his speech, he underscored the significance of the magazine in line with the Chief of the Naval Staff’s vision, of a Navy that not only upholds Nigeria’s sovereignty but also reflects the strength and resilience of its personnel.
The Commander NNS WEY, Commodore MM Braimah, expressed pride in the magazine, describing it as a symbolic encapsulation of five decades of the Base’s history and accomplishments. He also highlighted the publication as a bridge between the military and the community.
The Commander NNS WEY expressed optimism that, over time, the Sailors’ Home Front magazine would grow in scope and impact, drawing in both military and civilian contributions that reflect Nigeria’s maritime security landscape. He encouraged readers and advertisers alike to support this venture, making it an expansive forum for beneficial knowledge exchange, public discourse, and resourceful outreach.
