Nigerians Request For More Evidence-based Allegations Against FSARS
Nigerians across the country have for the past few months been sharing stories about the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The allegations made against the squad ranges from extortion to abuse, wrongful detainment, and murder.
The Head of the Nigeria Police Force‘s Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit, Yomi Shogunle had once described the #EndSARS movement as a scam.
To ensure believability, Nigerians have begun calling for evidence-based allegations made against the squad.
They are asking that people provide pictures, audio, and even videos of the officials when they are seen harassing other citizens.
A date, time and place of the incident, along with a traceable victim, is also part of the requirements.
What this translates to is that when next you witness SARS officials harassing a citizen, take a photo, a video, or record the audio. That’s all. It can be from a distance, even, as long as it shows clearly the abuse.
