NMS Commandant Decorates AWO, 23 Other Newly Promoted Soldiers, Charges Them On Discipline and Professionalism

The Commandant, Nigerian Military School (NMS) Zaria, Brigadier General Owoicho Ejiga, on Tuesday 25 November 2025, decorated 24 newly promoted soldiers of the school in a colourful and dignified ceremony held at the NMS Multipurpose Hall.

In his remarks during the event, the Commandant congratulated the beneficiaries of the promotion, describing their elevation as a reward for hard work, discipline, and exemplary conduct. He noted that although promotion ultimately comes from God, it is earned through commitment to duty, loyalty, and consistent demonstration of military values.

Brigadier General Ejiga further urged the promoted soldiers to remain focused, maintain high moral standards, and continue to uphold the excellent image of the Nigerian Army. He specially congratulated the newly promoted Army Warrant Officer (AWO) Isah Oche Mohammed, noting the prestige of the rank and the level of discipline, leadership, and professionalism required to attain such a position in the military. He commended AWO Isah’s exemplary service and urged other soldiers to emulate his dedication and work ethic.

Speaking on behalf of all the promoted soldiers, AWO Isah Mohammed expressed profound gratitude to God for life and for the opportunity to witness the milestone. He also appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for approving their promotions. He extended deep appreciation to the NMS Commandant for his leadership, mentorship, and fatherly guidance which contributed immensely to their success.

AWO Isah further thanked their families for providing the moral and emotional support that strengthened them in the discharge of their duties. He assured the Nigerian Army of the continued loyalty, discipline, and renewed commitment of all the newly promoted personnel.

The 24 soldiers decorated during the ceremony were promoted across various ranks ranging from Lance Corporal to Army Warrant Officer.
