Ogun 1 Customs Command Impounds Goods Worth N106 Million, Generates Over N13 Million in July 2023
A total of two thousand, one hundred and thirteen (2,113) bags of foreign parboiled rice and one thousand, four hundred and sixteen pieces of used tyres were among the top seizures made by Operatives of the Ogun 1 Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service in the Month month of July, 2023.
The Command under the leadership of the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Bamidele Makinde, also intercepted twenty-one (21) units of vehicles (means of conveyance and Tokunbos), seventeen thousand, nine hundred and fifty (17,950) litres of Premium Motor (PMS) among others, with a duty paid value of one hundred and six million, seven hundred and fifty-seven thousand, five hundred and ninety-two naira (N106, 757, 592.00).
In a Press Release signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs, Hammed Bukoye Oloyede, the Command also, through the proceeds from auction sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and baggage assessment generated a total of thirteen million, three hundred and seventy thousand, two hundred and twenty-nine naira.
Similarly, the CAC appreciated the Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR and members of his entourage on the occasion of his visit to the Command on Sunday, 6th August, 2023 on behalf of the Officers and Men of Ogun 1 Command. “The visit serves as an encouragement to Officers and a morale booster. We assure the CGC of sustaining and improving the performance tempo of the Command.”
Makinde also used the avenue to commend Officers and Men on their immense contributions to the laudable achievements of the Command. He consequently charged them to remain resolute in discharging their duties, which must be done with courtesy without loss of dignity.
“I will also like to appreciate the practical presence of our critical stakeholders, such as Heads of sister Agencies; Security Agencies from Igolo; Secretary General Inter-border forum and clearing agents, during the visit of the Ag. CGC for the warm reception accorded him.”
“I like to applaud the traditional rulers in the Ipokia Local Government Area, community leaders, youths and other members of Idiroko and Ipokia communities for the warm reception given to the Ag. CGC when he visited the Palaces of Oniko of Ikolaje and Onipokia of Ipokia to pay homage and courtesy visit.” He added.
