Officers of Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robbery suspect, Bolanle Ojomu during a robbery operation at Ilese Ijebu area of Ogun State.
Spokesman for the Comand, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi announced that the suspect was arrested following a distress call received by the Police at about 12:30am, Monday that armed robbers were terrorizing residents of Silva Estate, Odomalasa area of Ilese ijebu.
He said the Divisional Police Officer, Ilese Ijebu Division, CSP Amuda Bolaji promptly mobilized his men and moved to the scene of crime.
“The hoodlums on sighting the policemen, took to their heels, but they were hotly chased and one of them was apprehended with the assistance of members of the community, while others escaped. Recovered from the arrested one was one locally made gun with one live cartridge.
“Meanwhile, the acting commissioner of police DCP Abiodun Alamutu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation”.
DSP Oyeyemi also noted that a massive manhunt has already commenced to track down and arrest the fleeing members of the notorious gang, with a view to bringing them to justice.
He called on well meaning individuals to always partner with the Nigerian Police as security is everyone’s responsibility.
