Olu of Warri Lauds NDA’s Transformation, Urges Continued Excellence

The Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty( HRM) Ogiame Atuwatse CFR, on Wednesday 17 September 2025 paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) During the visit, the Olu of the Warri Kingdom, expressed admiration for the institution’s progress and called on its leadership to sustain the high standards.

Accompanied by His Chiefs and Aides, the royal visitor was received by the NDA Commandant, Major General AK Ibrahim, OFR. The Commandant briefed HRM Atuwatse on the NDA’s origins, mission and its evolution into an international military academy hosting cadets from allied African countries and beyond.

During a guided tour that was concluded at the NDA Hall of Fame, the Olu of Warri viewed digital exhibits highlighting the Academy’s heritage, including profiles of past ministers of defence, service chiefs, former commandants and distinguished NDA graduates. He also interacted with cadets, urging them to remain disciplined and hardworking to achieve success in their careers.

The royal father thanked the NDA Commandant and staff for their commitment, encouraging them not to rest on their laurels but to continue raising the Academy’s standards. In appreciation of his visit, the NDA presented HRM Atuwatse with a commemorative plaque.

The visit was hitch-free and successful, reinforcing ties between traditional leadership and Nigeria’s premier military training institution.
