Operation Safe Haven Gets New Commander
A new commander, Maj Gen EF Oyinlola has assumed the command of the Special Task Force Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) headquartered in Jos, Plateau State. He took over office from Maj Gen AE Abubakar who was recently posted to the National Defence College (NDC) and appointed Deputy Commandant.
Speaking during the handing and taking over ceremony at the headquarters of the command, the outgoing Commander and General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen AE Abubakar acknowledged the overwhelming support received from personnel during his tour of duty.
The outgoing commander saluted the efforts of critical stakeholders within the command’s Area of Responsibility in ensuring improved security and stability. He tasked personnel of the operation to support the incoming commander so as to consolidate on the operational gains of the past.
In his maiden remarks, the incoming commander, Maj Gen EF Oyinlola, commended the outgoing commander for his foresight in repositioning Operation SAFE HAVEN to a success-driven operation. The incoming commander revealed that his command philosophy will be hinged on sound administration and prioritizing the wellbeing of troops. He, therefore charged officers and men to remain disciplined and dedicated to ending the circle of violence within the Joint Operations Area.
Highlights of the ceremony includes the signing of handing and taking over notes, handing over of OPSH command insignia, address to troops, presentation of quarter guard/change of flags, and group photograph.
