
Passing Out Parade Of Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Onne Batch 37 Trainees
On Saturday, 6 December 2025, the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS), Onne, conducted the Passing Out Parade (POP) of Batch 37 trainees after eight months of intensive military training. A total of 1961 trainees, comprising 1607 males and 354 females, successfully completed the training. The ceremony also featured the recognition of 6 outstanding trainees who distinguished themselves in various categories of merit awards.
The Special Guest of Honour (SGOH) was the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal). The event was graced by Principal Staff Officers from Defence Headquarters and Naval Headquarters, Flag Officers Commanding, General Officers Commanding and Air Officers Commanding. Also in attendance were Principal Staff Officers from Naval Training Command, Commanders of Autonomous Units, Commandants of military formations, Heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, captains of industry, as well as families and friends of the passing-out trainees.
In his remarks, the SGOH congratulated the trainees and encouraged them to remain law-abiding, uphold the values of the Nigerian Navy & demonstrate teamwork and professionalism as they begin their careers. He applauded their resilience throughout the rigorous eight-month training period, noting that their successful completion of the course reflects courage, discipline and an unwavering determination to serve the nation. Vice Admiral Abbas reminded the graduates that they are now part of a proud naval tradition built on honour, integrity and selfless service, urging them to carry these ideals into every assignment they undertake. He further charged them to continually strive for excellence, embrace continuous learning and remain loyal to the constitutional mandate of the Armed Forces, affirming that their journey as ratings of the Nigerian Navy has only just begun.
