PDP Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff Visits Former President Jonathan in Abuja
As different factional members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, maintain their stand on who remains the recognised chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, the leader of one of the factions and who was equally recognised by the court that sat in Port Harcourt as the legitimate chairman has visited the Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Monday in a move to bring unity and solution to the party’s crisis.
Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, Jonathan said, “We are not factionalised. We are one. I have met with Sheriff. And I have met with others. I will meet with others, so that we will be able to do what is expected of us as a political party.”
Also speaking, Sheriff said, “We only have one PDP and only one Chairman. We are putting things together to ensure that the party is united. We don’t want to have a divided house. We only have one PDP, we don’t have anything like caretaker committee.”
