Reports indicate that pirates on Saturday attempted to attack a vessel in Accra, Ghana.
On July 31, around 10.45pm, three pirates attempted to attack an MV in position 05 35 00 N, 000 03 00 E whilst at anchor in Accra, Ghana.
However, the assailants were resisted and repelled by the crew onboard.
We have reported a number of pirate attacks in recent months. On May 5, 2021, pirates attacked a vessel in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, killing a five-year old onboard in the process.
