Police Foil Kidnap Attempt In Bauchi, Rescue Two Victims, Arrest Three Suspects
The Bauchi State Police Command has thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Alkaleri Local Government Area, rescuing two victims unhurt and arresting three suspects linked to the crime.
Police spokesman, CSP Mohammed Wakil, said in a statement on Wednesday that the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on September 28, 2025, when armed men stormed Maso Kano village in Jada Pali district and abducted two residents, 50-year-old Hambali Alh. Sa’adu and 35-year-old Jari Alh. Sa’adu.
Acting swiftly on a distress call, a combined team of police operatives and local hunters confronted the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee. The victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.
Following investigations between September 29 and 30, the police arrested three suspects — 28-year-old Adamu Ahmadu, 18-year-old Bello Alhaji Musa, and 29-year-old Adamu Alhaji Musa — all from Shalhori village near Kirfi LGA.
The suspects confessed to the crime and disclosed that they had conspired with three accomplices still at large to demand ransom from the victims’ families.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the operatives and hunters for their professionalism and courage. He directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further probe and reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
He also urged communities to strengthen cooperation with security agencies by providing credible intelligence to aid the fight against crime.
“The Command will not relent in pursuing these criminal elements until every accomplice is arrested and brought to justice,” Aliyu assured.
