Presidency Denies Probe of Ex-CBN Gov’s, Emir Sanusi and Prof Soludo
The presidency on Monday denied suggestions there was a plan to probe two former Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof Charles Soludo and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Rumours swirled after both former governors of the apex bank last week criticised the handling of the economy by the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, suggesting nothing had been learnt from the mistakes of the past as the country continues to grapple with recession.
However, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu, yesterday debunked the reports that the presidency was probing both men.
Commenting on his Twitter handle (@GarShehu) the spokesman stated categorically that the presidency was unaware of any such probe.
“The checks I made today indicated that the presidency is unaware of the reported probe of Sarkin Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II and Professor Soludo,” he said.
“Where did that report come from? Under our constitution which President @MBuhari swore to uphold, it is not a crime to offer suggestions.” Garba Shehu added.
