President NAOWA Mrs Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu Champions Continuity, Unveils Modern Educational Facilities In Abuja
The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to sustaining visionary projects as she commissioned a state-of-the-art Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre, an Ultra-Modern Dining Hall and a Students’ Preparatory Hall at NAOWA College Asokoro on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.
Leading the ceremony, Mrs Shaibu described the occasion as a defining moment of purposeful leadership, institutional continuity and strategic investment in the future of students from military and civilian communities alike. She emphasized that the newly commissioned facilities are not merely physical structures, but symbols of opportunity, innovation and structured development.
According to her, the CBT Centre positions students for a competitive digital future by equipping them with the technological exposure and confidence required in today’s examination and learning environment. She added that the Ultra-Modern Dining Hall and Students’ Preparatory Hall provide a conducive atmosphere that supports both academic concentration and students’ overall well-being.
Underscoring the principle of continuity in leadership Mrs Shaibu noted that while the projects were conceived and initiated by the immediate past President of NAOWA, her administration ensured their full functionality, particularly through the furnishing of the Dining Hall to sustain and consolidate the original vision. She stressed that true leadership preserves progress, protects legacy and builds on established foundations for lasting impact.
In her remarks, the Guest of Honour, the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) and immediate past President NAOWA, Mrs Mernan Femi Oluyede expressed deep satisfaction at seeing the projects brought to life. She explained that the initiative was borne out of a clear assessment of the school’s needs — the demand for a modern digital examination centre and improved welfare facilities to match the institution’s academic aspirations.
Mrs Oluyede stated that her administration was driven by the conviction that quality infrastructure directly enhances learning outcomes and shapes confident, well-prepared students. She commended the current NAOWA leadership for sustaining the vision and ensuring the projects were completed to high standards, noting that continuity in service remains the hallmark of strong institutions.
Delivering the goodwill message on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General Isah M Abdullahi, reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering support for initiatives that promote the welfare and educational advancement of its personnel’s families. He noted that investments in education are investments in national development and commended NAOWA for consistently complementing the Army’s efforts through impactful community-driven projects.
The event attracted former Presidents of DEPOWA, NAOWA, leaders and members of DEPOWA, NAOWA, NOWA, NAFOWA, POWA as well as distinguished guests, parents and members of the military community, reflecting unity of purpose across the armed forces family.
The commissioning of the facilities stands as a milestone in NAOWA’s ongoing commitment to educational excellence, welfare enhancement and sustainable leadership, reinforcing its role as a strategic partner in strengthening families and supporting the mission of the Nigerian Army.
Highlights of the commissioning were the over view of the projects by the consultant, cutting of the ribbon, guided tour of the facilities, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
