R. Kelly Loses $180k in Settlement for ‘Screwing’ a Struggling Music Promoter
R. Kelly has just doled out a whopping $180k to a promoter following a long, drawn-out case.
According to The Jasmine Brand, the legendary R&B singer recently reached the agreement with the promoter, Darryl Austin, after the latter dragged him to court for cancelling on a scheduled Texas concert and causing him huge damages.
The Jasmine Brand says Austin had worked with the singer’s rep, John Mosley, for the concert and transferred $100k into their account. But when he started promotions for the event, he received a notification, warning him to quit mentioning Kelly’s name, that the singer knew nothing about the said event.
Upset, Austin dragged R. Kelly to court, requesting $180k for all the loss he made. The singer in turn, counter-sued his own rep, saying he only received $70k into his account which he immediately returned, that he never gave Mosley the permission to execute deals for him.
This month, documents were filed in court stating that R. Kelly and Darryl Austin have reached an agreement in the $180k case. Now, the singer reportedly has paid the promoter and he requested that their terms be kept confidential.
Meanwhile, R. Kelly, who is always embroiled in controversies, is still battling with his own representative whom he accuses of tarnishing his image and brand.
