Raising The Glass: Candidates Honoured At Captain To Major Practical Promotion Examination 2025

The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army recently hosted a grand cocktail event to honour candidates who successfully completed the 2025 Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE) 2025. The event, held at the Python Officers’ Mess in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was attended by senior officers, Directing Staff, and distinguished guests. Major General Kevin Aligbe, Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) and President of the Examination Board, congratulated the candidates on their remarkable achievement, praising their discipline and resilience throughout the examination process. He emphasized the strategic importance of the practical promotion exercise in strengthening Nigeria’s defence against terrorism and safeguarding national sovereignty.

In his remarks, Major General Jamiu Jimoh, Commander of the Defence Headquarters Joint Intelligence and Monitoring Centre (DHQ JIMC) who was the Special Guest of Honour, commended the candidates’ sense of accomplishment and highlighted the broader significance of the CMPPE. He stressed that the promotion was not merely a change in rank but a transformation in responsibility and capacity to serve the nation. “The confidence gained from passing the practical promotion examination is seen as a foundation for navigating complex theories and doctrines. The ultimate goal is not just a promotion in rank but the growth in capacity to serve the nation with greater responsibility and honour”. He said.

Captain Oluwaseun Oyetunde, delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the candidates, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for authorizing the exercise, and lauded Major General Aligbe for his visionary leadership. She also thanked Major General Eric Emekah for hosting the event and the Examination Panel and Directing Staff for their professionalism and fairness.

The cocktail event served as a moment of reflection and celebration, marking a significant milestone in the careers of the officers and reinforcing the Army’s commitment to merit-based advancement and leadership excellence.
