I Regret Playing For Nigeria – Super Falcons Star, Francisca Ordega

Days after Nigeria’s Super Falcons successfully defended their Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) title in Cameroon, United States-based forward Francisca Ordega has said she regretted representing the country.

Ordega, who stars for Washington Spirit in the United States women league, said she would have opted for another country because of a lack of support for women’s football in Nigeria, AfricanFootball.com reports.

This follows the shabby treatment meted out to the ladies by sports officials after their triumph in Cameroon, with reports that they’re still stranded in Abuja.

“If I had not played for Nigeria, trust me I would have played somewhere else,” said Ordega, who won her third African Women’s Cup of Nations title  in Cameroon on Saturday.

“The U17 and U20 teams have been blamed for the performances at their recent World Cups, but they were poorly prepared for these competitions.

“If this continues, Nigeria will soon cease to be a force in Africa because there will be no future Super Falcons.”

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mohammed Sanusi has blamed their inability to settle the team’s allowances/salaries on the present state o the economy, adding that the Glass House was working round the clock to ensure the ladies got their entitlements.
