How a Selfie Almost Landed Justin Timberlake in Jail
These days, social media is getting an increasing number of people in trouble and its latest victim is singer Justin Timberlake.
According to reports, the Can’t stop the feeling crooner got himself in trouble with the law after he posted a selfie of himself on Instagram, casting a ballot in Memphis ahead of the November 8 elections.
In the now-deleted photo, Justin can be seen holding his voter’s card at the ballot box while winking at the camera. “I just flew from LA to Memphis to #rockthevote. No excuses, my good people! Choose to have a voice, Get out and VOTE!” he captioned the photo.
Unfortunately. the photo caught the attention of Tennessee authorities where it has been declared illegal to take photos inside polling locations.
It was earlier stated that the District Attorney’s office was reviewing the incident and Justin’s act would been considered a misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail or a fine of $50 or both. However, new reports confirm the matter will not be investigated or taken up by the Tennessee authorities.
“No one in our office is currently investigating this matter nor will we be using our limited resources to do so,” read a statement emailed to The Commercial Appeal.
However, Tennessee officials continued to remind voters they should not take pictures in polling places.
Just like Timberlake, Playboy model Dani Mathers got into a lot of trouble and scrutiny after she posted a photo of an unsuspecting naked woman on Snapchat.
Well, I guess this should be a warning that social media is not an entirely liberal place after all.
