Senior Executive Course 40, 2018 NIPSS Kuru Participants Hold Second Reunion In Abuja

Participants of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 40, 2018 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State, have held their second reunion at Citypot, Abuja on Saturday 25th October 2025. The event, which attracted members from across the country and abroad, provided a platform for reflection, camaraderie, and renewed commitment to the ideals of the National Institute and the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI).

The reunion began with an opening prayer and self-introductions, which created an atmosphere of warmth and nostalgia as participants reconnected after several years. In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Reunion Planning Committee, Alhaji Kabiru Sani, a retired Deputy Director General of the State Security Service, welcomed members and expressed appreciation for their continued bond and active participation in the affairs of the class. He also commended the resilience and sense of belonging that SEC 40 members have sustained since their graduation from the Institute.

In her remarks, the Deputy Monitor General, Barrister (Mrs) Kemi O. Sijuade, mni, praised the planning committee for its dedication and urged members to sustain the spirit of unity, collaboration, and patriotism that defined their stay at NIPSS. She further encouraged participants to continue supporting AANI’s vision of contributing to national policy formulation and implementation.

The highlight of the reunion was the goodwill message and special address by the Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, mni, National President of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI). He commended members of SEC 40 for their steadfast commitment to AANI and their invaluable contributions to national development. Ambassador Okafor further enjoined them to meet more regularly, care for one another, and extend such care to members of their families, emphasizing that the true strength of the alumni lies in continued fellowship and mutual support.

Ambassador Okafor also presented special souvenirs to members as tokens of recognition and appreciation. The participants used the opportunity to celebrate one of their colleagues, Mr. Isaac Ehiozuwa, mni, former Edo State Head of Service, who marked his birthday during the occasion. The gathering sang birthday songs, offered prayers, and shared goodwill messages to honour him.

In a solemn moment, members observed a minute’s silence in honour of their departed colleagues; Brigadier General OA James mni, Assistant Inspector General of Police Yunana Babas mni and Deputy Inspector General of Police Moses Jituboh mni, who passed on in recent years. The class also paid glowing tributes to their memory, acknowledging their service, friendship, and enduring legacy.

The SEC 40, 2018 class boasts of eminent personalities from both the public and private sectors, including the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), and the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, among several others, making remarkable impacts in their respective fields.

Group photographs were later taken to capture the memorable occasion, followed by discussions which focused on strengthening class cohesion, supporting ongoing AANI initiatives, and exploring avenues for collective national impact.

The convivial event concluded with lunch and a closing prayer, leaving participants in high spirits and looking forward to future engagements that will further strengthen their shared commitment to the vision and mission of NIPSS and AANI.
