
Sound Administration and Logistics Crucial To Military Operations – GOC 6 Division
The General Officer Commanding ( GOC), 6 Division Nigerian Army/ Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah has today 2 June 25 emphasized the crucial role played by sound admin and logistics in Military Operations (MilOps). He made the disclosure, when student officers of Battalion Commanders Course (BCC) 10/25 from the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST), Benin visited Headquarters, 6 Division, while on study tour to Port Harcourt.
Major General Emekah stated that MilOps cannot be successful without sound administration and logistics, urging commanders to pay attention to logistics under their command. He further charged the participants to see themselves beyond middle level officers, stressing that as Services Support Arms, they could be deployed to work at strategic levels in their respective ranks. He also called on them to see themselves as professionals and take the study tour seriously to enhance their knowledge and capacity in the field.
Earlier, the Commandant NASST, Major General Adebayo Adegbite, who led the team, congratulated the GOC on his appointment and added that the tour was part of the curriculum for the BCC. He further stated that Port Harcourt was selected because of the number of private organisations domiciled in the City. He maintained that the theme for the visit is “Leveraging on Technology and Innovation: Lessons for Private Sector”, with the objective to prepare middle level cadre officers for higher responsibilities in the future.
Major General Adegbite further disclosed that MilOps is driven by logistics, adding that to be successful in any operations, logistics officers must be up to their tasks. He assured the GOC of their support in the area of logistics for a successful MilOps in 6 Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The study tour, which was led by the Commandant, Major General Adegbite was made up of fourteen officers, twelve male and two female officers. The visit climaxed with presentation of souvenirs and group photograph.
