John Boyega may be headlining the crop of Hollywood artistes dominating the world, but the award winning star has refused to forget his roots. Yesterday, the Star Wars actor talked about his love for jollof rice and fried plantains, and revealed how his mother forced him into the kitchen to prepare them, even if he had just returned from a long trip.
“[I] haven’t seen my mum in a week! I walk through the door and the first thing she says is “go and fry plantain”,” Boyega tweeted last night, adding, “Now one does not have a problem with frying the plantain as I can’t eat jollof without it but damn ma.”

@JohnBoyega Fried plantain is the best. Do you know they have it in Chinese buffets in the US? They need to do it here.
