State Operating Officer JEDCO Seeks Stronger Cooperation With 3 Division

The State Operating Officer of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDCO), Engr. Hamisu Jigawa has called for stronger cooperation between the company and 3 Division Nigerian Army to enhance operational effectiveness and secure critical electricity infrastructure within Plateau State.

Engr. Jigawa made this known during a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Nigerian Army and Commander Operation ENDURING PEACE (COPEP) Major General EF Oyinlola, on 3 February 2026, at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos. The engagement formed part of Engr. Jigawa’s familiarization and operational assessment tour following his recent deployment as the State Operating Officer. Also, the visit was aimed at deepening collaboration with 3 Division, particularly in addressing security challenges affecting electricity distribution across the state.

Speaking during the visit, Engr. Jigawa commended the Nigerian Army for its professionalism and sustained support for JEDCO’s operations. He stressed that electricity is a critical national service which effective delivery is closely tied to the safety of personnel and the protection of power installations.

In this regard, he underscored the need for enhanced cooperation with the Division to safeguard critical power infrastructure against vandalism and other security threats. He noted that strengthening synergy with 3 Division would significantly improve JEDCO’s capacity to deliver uninterrupted power supply while ensuring the protection of national assets under its purview.

In his response, Major General Oyinlola appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the Division’s commitment to maintaining a strong and cordial working relationship with the Jos Electricity Distribution Company. He emphasized that 3 Division remains resolute in its responsibility to protect lives, property, and critical national infrastructure, including electricity installations.

The GOC advised the State Operating Officer to promptly report any case of vandalism or threat to JEDCO’s operation to the nearest military formation. Assuring him of swift and decisive action to address such threats and prevent future occurrences. He further reiterated the Division’s readiness to support JEDCO in any capacity necessary to ensure efficient and uninterrupted electricity distribution within its area of responsibility.

Highlights of the visit were the presentation of souvenir, signing of visitors’ book and group photograph to commemorate the event.
