Synergy Building and Collaboration: Commander 9 Brigade Hosts Executive Of NBA
The Commander 9 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA), Brigadier General Olawale Matthew Oyekola has played host to the executive of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Lagos State Branch at the Brigade’s Headquarters complex in TA Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja. The visit, which took place on 22 October 2025, was anchored on synergy building and exploration of areas for future collaboration such as training, human rights awareness campaigns, social and sporting activities, and mutual beneficial engagements as highlighted by Barrister Mrs Unchenna Akingbade, the Chairman, NBA, Lagos State Branch.
Barrister Uchenna stressed the significant and critical role the NA plays in the well-being of the nation, which is key to the success of NBA and the justice system operations which she said can not strive when there is a total break down of law and order.
The Chairperson said she is aware of the efforts of the NA from seminars she has attended in ensuring that human rights are preserved according to the tenets of the rule of law. She said it is the disposition that encouraged her to extend the branch’s hands of friendship to the brigade.
In his response, Brigadier General Oyekola said it is the legal system that ensures sanity in every society through administration of justice and equity. He noted that before his assumption of command, Lagos being a high breed and complex city, he had it at back of his mind that petitions, legal tussle, and litigations would abound between civilians, the brigade and its personnel. But because he always accord the legal profession its rightful place in the society wherever he found himself, issues that came up were amicably resolved with fewer hitches due to collaborative efforts with legal luminaries within Lagos State. He thanked the Chairperson for initiating the relationship and hoped it would be sustained for mutual benefits, and wished the NBA executive a successful and impactful tenure in office.
The visit featured the signing of visitors’ books, presentation of sourvenir, group photographs, and interactions.
