Taraba Governor Commends Gallantry Of 6 Brigade Troops, Acknowledges Armed Forces’ Impact On State Peace

The Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has commended the gallantry, professionalism and unwavering commitment of troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their critical role in sustaining peace and stability across the state. He noted that Taraba State has remained a major beneficiary of the sacrifices and constitutional duties of the Armed Forces, particularly the Nigerian Army and the Air Force.

The Governor gave this commendation while delivering his goodwill message during the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day (AFCRD) 2026 Interdenominational Church Service, held on Sunday, 11 January 2026, at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Anglican Diocese of Jalingo, Mayo Dasa, Taraba State. He described the Armed Forces as a pillar of national unity and sovereignty, stressing that many adverse situations would have prevailed but for the relentless service, courage and resilience of Nigeria’s military personnel.

Dr. Kefas reassured serving personnel, veterans, and families of fallen heroes of the continuous support and partnership of the Taraba State Government, emphasizing improved welfare, collaboration with security agencies, and collective responsibility in intelligence sharing and community cooperation. He urged citizens to continually appreciate the Armed Forces through prayers, patriotism and support, while praying that the sacrifices of fallen heroes would never be in vain.

Also at the Church Service, Commander 6 Brigade NA, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa in his address, paid solemn tribute to officers and soldiers who paid the supreme price in defence of the nation and reassured their families of the Military and the nation’s constitutional support. He commended the officers and soldiers of 6 Brigade for their resilience, discipline, professionalism and courage in ongoing operations within Taraba State, while appreciating the Taraba State Government, sister security agencies and families of troops for their unwavering support.

He concluded by affirming that as long as Nigeria remembers her fallen heroes and honours her living defenders, no sacrifice made in service to the nation will ever be in vain.

Earlier, on Friday, 9 January 2026, at the Jalingo Central Mosque, opposite the Emir of Muri’s Palace, Jalingo, Juma’at Prayers were held, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), was ably represented by the Chief of Staff Headquarters 6 Brigade, Colonel AU Mohammed. Officers, soldiers and their families, alongside personnel of sister security agencies.

Dignitaries present at the interdenominational service included the Executive Governor of Taraba State, senior government officials, heads of sister security agencies, traditional rulers, NAOWA and NASWA members led by the Zonal Coordinator Dr Racheal Uwa, clergy, veterans, families of service personnel, and other invited guests.

The prayer sessions underscored the essence of AFCRD 2026 as a period of remembrance, gratitude and national unity, while reaffirming the commitment of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS to the defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty and the maintenance of peace and security in Taraba State.
