Taraba State Government Salutes The Unwavering Commitment and Doggedness Of 6 Brigade Troops

The Taraba State Government has lauded the unwavering commitment and exceptional dedication of the gallant troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, in ensuring peace and security across the state.

This commendation was delivered yesterday 22 January 2025 at the Combined Headquarters 6 Brigade Nigerian Army West African Social Activities (WASA) 2024 held at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo. Representing His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State, Barrister Timothy Kataps, emphasized the government’s appreciation for the Brigade’s efforts in combating insecurity and maintaining peace. He equally reiterated the government’s continued support to sustain the tempo of 6 Brigade operations in 2025.

In his welcome address, the Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, highlighted the significance of the WASA tradition, which dates back to the early years of the Nigerian Army. He described it as a time to reflect on the achievements of the past year and to celebrate the resilience and accomplishments of the troops.
“The outgone year was eventful and challenging, characterized by undaunted security challenges. Yet, through determination and professionalism, we curtailed these challenges to the barest minimum,” General Uwa stated. He also appreciated the Taraba State Government for its support, particularly in providing additional logistics to enhance the Brigade’s operational activities.

The Commander reassured the people of Taraba State and the Nigerian Army of the Brigade’s unwavering commitment and loyalty to fulfilling its mandate of defending the nation’s territorial integrity and aiding civil authority.

The colorful event featured a variety of cultural displays, the symbolic beating of retreat, presentation of souvenirs and awards and the lighting of the bonfire, all reflecting the rich traditions of the Nigerian Army. The ceremony was graced by dignitaries from various sectors within Taraba State, further cementing the bond between the military and the civilian populace.
