Hoodlums on Monday March 22 attacked churches, schools and shops in Ilorin sparking tension and fear among residents.
Sources say the hoodlums wielded dangerous weapons as they matched along major roads in Ilorin with a number of them wearing masks to conceal their identity
The violence reportedly spread to St. Barnabas primary school, Murtala Muhammad way, Ilorin, and some churches in the area, as people armed with cutlasses and broken bottles went on a rampage.
Reports indicate that security operatives were later deployed to the scene to restore law and order.
It was gathered that multiple gunshots were fired by the Military after a man allegedly stoned an officer.
Confirming the incident, the State’s Police PRO, Ajayi Okasanmi, said that the prompt intervention of men of the command reduced the tension, adding that normalcy had since to schools and business in Ilorin.
