
The Chief Of Civil-Military Affairs Receives Peace Advocacy Group, Reaffirms Commitment To National Unity
The Chief of Civil -Military Affairs Major General Musa Awal Estu-Ndagi on Tuesday 2 December 2025, reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to peacebuilding and national cohesion as he received members of the Global Association of Christians and Muslims Youth for Peace & Development (GACMYPD) in Abuja.
The Chief of Civil -Military Affairs who received the team on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu welcomed the delegation and commended the group for its efforts in promoting interfaith harmony among young Nigerians.
The visiting team, led by its National President, Prince Peter Asuquo Bassey, said the courtesy call to the Army Headquarters is part of its outreach activities aimed at strengthening collaboration with security agencies in fostering peace and development across the country.
Maj Gen Etsu-Ndagi noted that the Nigerian Army remains committed to working with credible civil society groups to enhance peaceful coexistence, deepen trust, and counter narratives that threaten national stability. He emphasized that interfaith organisations such as GACMYPD play a vital role in bridging divides and promoting understanding.
Prince Bassey, in his remarks, praised the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices in maintaining national security and expressed the association’s readiness to partner with the military on youth sensitisation campaigns, peace education programmes, and community engagement initiatives.
The visit ended with a group photograph and a renewed commitment from both sides to continue fostering unity, tolerance, and sustainable peace in Nigeria.
