
The Realities Of Our Time Dictates That We Produce Soldiers Who Are Ready To Combat Emerging Security Challenges – Chief Of Training Charges Depot Nigeria Army Zaria As He Conducts Assessment Visit
The Cheif of Training Army Major General Valentine Uzochukwu Okoro has charged the Depot Nigerian Army Zaria to train and produce soldiers who are ready and fit to combat the current and emerging security challenges in Nigeria. He made this charge during his training assessment visit to the institution on Wednesday 12 August 2026. While he commended the work done so far, he added that a lot of effort needs to be put into the training of the recruits and work towards harmonising training in all three Depots of recruits training comprising of the Depot NA Zaria, Osogbo and Amasiri-Edda. The aim of this is to ensure that all soldiers irrespective of training Depots will have the same requisite advanced levels of skills, competence and proficiency.
Maj Gen Okoro further encouraged the institution to pay keen attention to other aspects of admistration and management that may seem intangible but directly and indirectly affects the training and overall turn out of the soldiers. He made mention of the feeding, hostel organizations, environmental sanitation and dressing being also key aspects that further builds their character.
Speaking during his brief, the Commandant Depot NA Zaria, Brigadier General Usman Ahmad highlighted the training exercises mapped out for recruits of 90 Regular Recruits Intake currently undergoing training in the institution, the challenges and proferred ways forward.
