
Theatre Commander Assesses Operational Readiness Of 29 Task Force Brigade, Tasks Troops To Sustain Vigilance
The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has charged troops of 29 Task Force Brigade to avoid complacency and sustain an aggressive posture against terrorists in their areas of operation .
Maj Gen Abubakar gave the charge during an operational assessment visit to 154 Task Force Battalion at Ngamdu, 156 Task Force Battalion at Mainok, 273 Task Force Battalion at Jakana, and 29 Task Force Brigade at Benisheikh.
The visit was aimed at appraising operational judicious use of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) intervention, operational activities, assessing combat readiness and ensuring optimal utilization of platforms / equipment deployed in the theatre.
In his remarks, Maj Gen Abubakar commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them to remain vigilant, resilient, and aggressive in dealing with terrorist threats and other criminal activities. He further emphasized the need for close supervision, effective coordination, and prioritization of troops’ welfare especially the standard of feeding.
The Theatre Commander also held a heart-to-heart interaction with the troops, where they highlighted some administrative challenges. He promised to address most of the issues immediately while escalating others to the military high command.
During the visit, the Commander 29 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, alongside the Commanding Officers of the units visited, briefed the Theatre Commander on measures adopted to dominate the area and deny terrorists freedom of action.
The field commanders assured the Theatre Commander of their resolve to sustain the operational tempo and protect lives and property within their Areas of Responsibility.
The visit was attended by formation commanders, senior staff officers from Theatre Headquarters, as well as the Commander Sector 2, Brig Gen Beyidi Martins.
