‘It’s Time to Become SA’s First Music Mogul’- AKA Dumps Record Label, Launches Own Company
AKA has followed up on his threat, and this has surprised many of his fans.
According to TimesLive, the ‘Baddest’ rapper has just dumped his record label Vth Season and has now started his own company, Beam Group. And this comes months after the South African act threatened to end his relationship with the company that launched his career.
Unlike Nigeria’s Harrysong, who was pained by the alleged unfair treatment from Five Star Music, prompting his decision to create his own label, AKA did not specifically tell what led to the decision to leave Vth Season. Instead, he says he wants to become his country’s first ‘music mogul’.
“I have the utmost respect for the Vth Season team. Together, we created magic. I have learnt a lot from the music industry and it’s time for me to start building my own legacy and become South Africa’s first Music Mogul,” AKA said in a statement.
He continued, “The process of establishing BEAM from scratch has not been easy, but has been liberating as I have a great business team to lean on. Thus BEAM’s focus is not just music, as my ultimate aim is to be a multi-investor, with success in different industries.”
Vth Season are yet to tell their own side of the story, however, AKA stopped dropping music through the company on June 1.
We can’t wait to see how this pans out.
