To Sustain Synergy and Collaboration, Comptroller Of Nigeria Immigration Service Oyo State Command Visits GOC 2 Division
In efforts to sustain synergy, collaboration and effective communication in carrying out security duties, the Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Oyo State Command, Comptroller Adekunle Jimoh, on Friday, 2 August 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Obinna Onubogu, at the Division’s Headquarters (HQ) in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In his remarks, the GOC, having welcomed Comptroller Jimoh and his entourage, stated that the visit was timely, and as well, in line with the need to sustain the fight against insecurity bedeviling the state and the nation at large.
He noted that the relationship between the two services have been very cordial; adding that sustained collaboration would further strengthen the bond, while aiding in proferring lasting solutions to security problems.
“I think it would be good to continue in this light for the sake of what we do for the nation, and for the special trust the Government and good people of Oyo State have on security agencies, to support and ensure we carry out our constitutional responsibilities to effectively preserve lives and property.
General Onubogu, reiterated that the visit would improve the already existing cordial relationship between the two services. He urged the Immigration Comptroller, to reach out to the Division for possible assistance whenever the need arises.
The borders around Kwara, Oyo and environs, formed part of the GOC’s remarks. He noted that most illegal migrants do not in most cases, pass through the legal routes, rather, they come into the country using illegal means, thereby constituting serious security breaches.
He further lauded the Comptroller for his efforts to curtail the trend, urging for an improved and sustained border patrol and management, which he said, would assist in ensuring these areas are well secured.
Earlier while stating his aim of the visit, Comptroller Jimoh, said strengthening the existing synergy between the NA and NIS, remains significantly important in securing victory over all security challenges.
The essence of my coming on this courtesy visit to the GOC, is to strengthen the existing synergy between the NA and Immigration Service. The relationship has been ongoing before now, and I hope that it continues, ” he said.
The Comptroller, also noted that continuous intelligence gathering and sharing, collaboration and effective communication, would assist the two services to sustain the fight against insecurity in the state and beyond.
Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) of both services’ HQs in Ibadan, were present at the visit. The presentation of souvenirs and group photographs climaxed the event.
