TRADOC Commander Calls For Increased Investment In Research To Enhance Army Capabilities
The Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command, Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe, has emphasised the need for continuous investment in Research and Development (R&D) to strengthen the Nigerian Army’s capabilities for national security and development.
Represented by Major General Ja‘afar Mohammed, Director of Joint and Combined Doctrine, Major General Aligbe made this call while opening the 2024 R&D Conference at TRADOC’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, on 24 September 2024. The conference, themed “Leveraging Research and Development in Emerging Technologies for Success in Modern Warfare,” aims to build capacity and expand participants’ knowledge of contemporary R&D issues.
Major General Aligbe highlighted the crucial role of R&D in industrialisation and national advancement, urging participants to explore new frontiers in emerging technologies. He emphasised that ideas generated at the conference would enhance the Nigerian Army’s decision-making for national security and peace.
Chief of Research Development, Test and Evaluation TRADOC NA, Major General Mohammed Danja, reiterated the importance of keeping participants updated on technological advancements shaping modern warfare. He thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, for his support in organising the conference, which brings together military and security experts to foster collaboration and innovation.
